Graded by PCGS as a Mint Error is this $2 struck on a wrong planchet. It’s a planchet for an Australian 5 cent piece but it has parts of the two dollar design indicating it has been through the $2 coin press and is such a $2 coin. The design is extremely weak given the 5 cent planchet is so much smaller than the intended planchet for a $2 coin. A $2 coin planchet weighs 6.6 grams and this 5 cent planchet just 2.83 grams. PCGS have recognised this wrong planchet error as such and dates it from 1999 to 2016, 1999 being the first year of the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of the Queen. It is possibly unique as we have never seen another $2 struck on a 5 cent planchet.
