PCGS managed to capture the stunning colours on this coin much better than our images. Periphal blues with hints of green and purple make this an absolute standout in hand AND in a magnificent grade.
This is the milled edge uncirculated swan or goose pattern dollar produced after the changeover to decimal currency when collectors were unimpressed about there not being a dollar coin in our new currency. A competition was held in the Australian Coin Review magazine, entries accepted and the winning design by Andor Meszaros was minted by John Pinches of London. This is the most popular pattern piece with collectors.
