36mm, 4.3 grams aluminium. The Australian government had a mandate over New Guinea for many years and levied a tax of 10/- on male villagers in New Guinea from 1921 to 1942. This was known as the “Head Tax”. When a villager paid his tax he was given one of these ‘head tax tokens’ to wear around his neck.
Holed for wearing around man’s neck.
