Australia 1934-35 Melbourne (Centenary Florin) Foy Bag
SOLD
Coin Type: | Bag Only -No Coin |
Year: | 1935 |
Foy & Gibson Pty Ltd highly collectable paper envelope that once contained a Melbourne Centenary florin. Florin not included. Foy & Gibson was a large department store chain in the 1930’s. There are 2 types of Foy bags, that from Melbourne stores and a slightly different bag from Perth. This example is the Melbourne type.
This particular bag has the flap intact and the writing on the front is still quite clear and bold. The bag has quite a few folds the most pronounced (and often is) a centre fold as the coin sat inside for many many years. The bag has completely come apart (the paper quite fragile after such a time) entirely down the right folded side and almost halfway down the left side.
