Coin struck on an underweight planchet. Probably due to a cold shut being rolled into the metal during the blank manufacturing process. The cold shut detached at some point leaving the blank missing a significant amount of material on the reverse. Note the strike weakness on the obverse opposite the missing metal on the reverse. A very sharp transition from correct flan thickness to thinner area through the kangaroo’s head. An impressive error.
Supplied in an archival Saflip.
