The Centenary of Quarantine recognises 100 years of dedication in managing the risk of pests and diseases entering Australia. Quarantine plays a vital role in helping to conserve Australia’s native flora and fauna, and our multi-billion dollar agricultural and tourism industries.
The Australian Quarantine Inspection Service (AQIS) detector dog (the beagle) is depicted as being on-duty, protecting Australia from pests and diseases by detecting food, plants, animals and their products in passengers’ bags. Our nation is represented in a luggage shape with travel/luggage stickers identifying the key hazard and protection issues for the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service
