Bronze uniface 1 Mark token issued by the South Australian government circa 1910. These “SAG” tokens circulated in the first part of the 20th century in the Magill Boys Reformatory. The Reformatory operated in Adelaide’s north-eastern suburb of Magill from 1891 to 1967. Some sources suggest the denomination of “Marks” is not German in origin, but rather “Marks” awarded to boys for good behaviour.
